MPMET 2011
Analysis

The test of MPMET was of 200 questions, like last years’. The “MPMET 2011” (Held on 06 March, 2011) paper was easy to moderate in terms of difficulty level as compared to last year’s. A good speed with better accuracy was the key to clear the cut offs. An overall attempt of 125+ marks out of 200 with an accuracy of 90% should be a comfortable score.

Analysis
The paper was not lengthy and as compared to last year it was easy. Some of the passages in the Reading Comprehension section were quite easy and direct while the lengthy ones were also affordable.. Two sets in the Business Data and Interpretation section were quite difficult and this raised the overall difficulty level of the section. Numerical Ability section comprised mostly of Arithmetic with some Higher Math topics as well. The Data Sufficiency and Business Judgement sections were easy-moderate while Verbal and Writing Ability section was of Easy .
This year the MET had the same pattern as last year. The paper was divided into six sections viz. Verbal and Writing Ability, Numerical Ability, Business Data and Interpretation, Data Sufficiency, Reading Comprehension and Business Judgement. The detail analysis of the test is as follows.

Section 1: Verbal and Writing Ability
There were questions on Para Jumble, Synonyms, Antonyms, Analogy, sentence correction and error detection and Fill in the blanks. Overall the section was easy Questions on grammar as well as selection of words in the question was fairly easy.  An attempt of 35 to 40 questions in a time span of 30 minutes was sufficient for this section. Section  2: Numerical Ability
In this section, there were questions on Time, Speed & Distance, Boats & Streams, Profit & Loss, Discount, Interest, Averages & Alligation, Percentages, Ratios, Geometry, Mensuration, Probability, Equations, Ages, Arithmetic Progression and Heights & Distances.
Most of the questions in this section were from the Arithmetic part of which some were moderate in difficulty level while rest were easy to solve. There were Higher Math questions as well as questions on Equations and Heights & Distances which were of moderate level of difficulty. An attempt of 32+ questions in a time span of 50 minutes was sufficient for this section. The breakup of the section is as follows:

Section 3: Business Data and Interpretation
This section comprised of five sets of 4 questions each. The graphs were based on Pie Charts, Bar Graphs (Horizontal and Vertical) and Line graphs.
Two sets were a bit tough while one was moderate and two were easy to solve. An attempt of 10+ questions in a time span of 20 minutes was sufficient for this section. The breakup of the section is as follows:

Section 4: Data Sufficiency
In this section, there were three sets one of 10 questions, one of 8 questions and one of 2 questions. One set was based on two statements DS which was easy to solve while one set was based on three statements DS of which some questions were easy and others were of moderate difficulty level and two questions were on statements and arguments which were moderate in difficulty level. An attempt of 14+ questions in a time span of 15 minutes was sufficient for this section

Section 5: Reading Comprehension
There were five passages of which some were a little lengthy but the questions from these were direct. Some of the passages were short comprising of some inferential questions. There were 5 of Para Jumbles close variety in this section. Also 2 questions of a new variety of finding the implied meaning of a one liner were introduced which were easy. Overall 23 + 5+ 2= 30 Qs. The overall difficulty level was easy to moderate. An attempt of 16+ questions in a time span of 30 minutes was sufficient for this section. The breakup of the section is as follows:

Section 6: Business Judgement
This section comprised of  13 critical reasoning questions; 3 questions on case study and only one passage with 4 questions on major factor, minor factor. The passage  and few critical reasoning questions were moderate while the rest were easy to solve. An attempt of 13+ questions in a time span of 20 minutes was sufficient for this section.
