IIFT Entrance Test 2007
Summary
The IIFT Entrance Test 2007 was quite different to IIFT 2006. Each question had only one correct answer, unlike multiple correct answers in last year's exam. This was a major change as it would mean more questions becoming attemptable. 33% flat negative marking meant that a student needs to be very accurate and guesswork is strictly prohibited. The number of questions increased from 106 last year to 150 this year. In certain sections like reasoning ability the level of difficulty was also less compared to last year .After a predictable CAT the game of unpredictability and changes has again commenced with IIFT exam. Overall the paper appeared much more balanced compared to last year.
Exam SNAP SHOT
- Number of sections: 4
- Number of options : 4
- No. of questions : 150
- All questions had only one correct answer.
- Each incorrect answer carried 1/3 negative marks
No specific mention of sectional cut-offs
Cut-offs
The Overall paper was not easy, if we have a look section wise the following scores seem to be very much possible.
Section I ( General Awareness) |
10 attempts ,3-4 marks |
Section II ( Reasoning ) |
12-14 questions in part i and 5-6 questions in part ii , 10 marks |
Section III ( Quant) |
10 questions in part i and 10 question in part ii , 12 marks |
Section IV ( Language) |
6-7 questions in part i and 12-14 questions in part ii 8-9 marks |
Overall with proper planning one could easily score 34-36 marks. But the actual cut offs would be quite lower than this figure and are expected to be around 30 marks. As there is no separate mention for sectional cut offs a net total of 30 should surely fetch the IIFT call.
Sectional Analysis
Section I (General Knowledge)
In the paper, the General Knowledge questions had a good combination of Business Awareness and Current Affairs. Some of the questions were sitters. One should have devoted a maximum of 10 minutes to attempt this section. Overall the section was tough and demanded a person to be an avid reader questions from years 2005 and 2006 were also asked.
An attempt of around 10 with good accuracy would be considered excellent.
